It is a free machining steel and is commonly called AISI 12L14 Lead Steel and may be referred to by the trade name Ledloy. Lead has been added to the chemical composition to provide an improved level of machinability. Although AISI 1215 Carbon Steel (UNS G12150) - AZoMCarbon steels are designated by AISI four-digit numbers. They contain carbon as the significant alloying element. Small quantities of molybdenum, chromium, nickel, aluminium, and copper are present in these steels. They also contain 0.4% silicon and 1.2% manganese.
